The conventional wisdom by now seems to be that The Media has drank the Obama Kool-Aid. Indeed, this news cycle has been dominated by coverage of the latest back and forth been Obama and McCain over his comments on Iraq during Tuesday night’s debate. For an Obama supporter, this might seem like something good–the signs seem to be pointing to an Obama nomination.

Or so it seems. Poll data consistently shows McCain matching up far more favorably against Senator Clinton than Obama. As I see it, the best thing for McCain to do now is erode support for Obama, not in a general election, but in the upcoming Democratic primaries in Ohio and Texas. Right now, these races seem to be a toss up. Now, think like McCain: Given the Obama Kool-aid meme, that same Media will turn a Clinton win in either state to be at least an upset (read: the G.W. method of diminished expectations). This reopens a viable path Clinton path to the nomination through Pennsylvania.

So what does this mean for Democrats? My advice is to keep on drinking the Kool-aid. McCain wants nothing more than to run against Hillary Clinton in a general election and what we’re seeing now is no less than an attempt to stick a knife in the Obama campaign before it’s too late.
